project overview :
Gal'Aan is a medieval fantasy universe that I created and wrote for the tabletop role-playing game system Dungeons & Dragons.
This personal project stemmed from the desire to build a complex and captivating world, and while I was at it, to offer my friends a role-playing adventure! Although unfinished, Gal'Aan remains my first major worldbuilding project.

Gal'Aan tells a tale of injustices, oppression, conflicts, and forgotten occult knowledge. War and religion drive the ambitions of Humans.
Each era of prosperity and flourishing is erased by the arrival of a new dark age. Such seems to be the cycle on the continent of Gal'Aan. Currently, in the year 860 after the fall of the continent of Fargos, the Eastern Kingdoms are struggling against a terrifying heretical enemy from the Northwest: the Empire of Navar. While the Church of Virtues encourages the war effort, the people can no longer provide and are exhausted. Meanwhile, the Magic Conclave continues to meddle everywhere in an effort to ensure magical security, not to mention the Long Night, a yearly week long of darkness which is quickly approaching with the winter...
On the continent of Gal'Aan, you will find twisted nobles, imperialist Elves, invaders with terrifying masks, the banned cult of the Holy Bastard Church, a terrifying astral phenomenon known as the Long Night, endless magical bureaucracy, and much more!

NOTIONS OF MAGIC
Magic is unpredictable, and few are capable of manipulating it. Those who possess a connection to the forces of magical chaos are born with a unique gift. A simple peasant, who will never dedicate his life to arcane study, may be born with the ability to breathe fire!
